Bike Path
and
Town Roads
Durango is beautifully situated on the Animas River with an eight mile bike path to enjoy the views and public spaces, or commute and run errands easily. An abundance of additional bike lanes and quiet roads make Durango an easy place to live daily life by bike for many residents.
This Road route has a legitimate climb and descent from town up to the college, but the views are worth it. A favorite coffee shop, Still Life, is located just off route to the left where you turn right from Florida to College dr to start the climb. This route has a starting point of Buckley Park, but as with most local rides is best ridden from your home base, no car necessary.
The Animas River Trail can be accessed anywhere along its length that is most convenient. Riding the full trail out and back is 16 miles. Highlights include Oxbow Park on the north end, the white water and river surfing at Santa Rita Park, and the deli at Sunnyside Farms market at the very south end of the trail.
